When you complete the membership form, we collect:

• your full name, date of birth, email address and contact number
• your answers about event invitations and the broadcast list
• your acceptance of the terms, where you signed, the date, and your signature

We also keep the date and time the form arrived, and a record that you agreed to this notice and which version of it you saw. We do not ask for your ID number, address, banking details or anything about your health, and we do not record your IP address.

• to invite you to events or add you to the broadcast list, only if you answered yes to those questions

Giving us this information is voluntary, but we cannot consider a membership without it. You can change your mind about events or the broadcast list at any time by letting us know.

Only the club’s own staff, signed in to a password protected admin area. We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

The website is hosted by Vercel Inc. Membership forms are stored in Vercel’s Cape Town data centre, in South Africa. Vercel is a United States company, so its systems and staff outside South Africa may handle the information to keep the service running. Vercel stores the information for us and does not use it for its own purposes. We only use providers who are bound to protect personal information to a standard comparable to POPIA.

Forms travel to us over an encrypted connection and are kept in private storage that cannot be reached from the public website. The admin area needs a username and password, repeated wrong attempts are locked out, and signed in sessions expire after twelve hours. Every change, deletion and download in the admin area is written to an activity log, so we can account for how your information has been handled. No system is perfectly secure. If we ever learn that your information has been accessed without permission, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as the law requires.

We keep your form for as long as you are a member, and for a reasonable period after that in case a question about your membership comes up. If your membership is declined or ends, you can ask us to delete your form sooner.

You can ask us to:

• tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy of it
• correct your name, email address or contact number if they are wrong or out of date
• delete your information
• stop using your information for event invitations or the broadcast list

Contact our information officer using the details above. We will respond within a reasonable time and at no charge. If you are unhappy with how we handled your request, you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run analytics that follow you around the web. Your browser remembers that you confirmed you are 18 or older, so you are not asked on every visit. Club staff who sign in to the admin area receive one cookie that keeps them signed in. The map in the footer only loads if you choose to show it. Once loaded, Google Maps may set its own cookies under Google’s privacy policy.

This site and the club are for adults only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If a form reaches us from someone under 18, we delete it.
